British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.08 percent, or 5.60 points, to close at 7,401.46 points.
Provident Financial, a British sub-prime lender , soared 22.46 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Shire and BHP Billiton increased by 1.49 percent and 1.41 percent, respectively.
CRH,a global building materials group,was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.61 percent. Paddy Power Betfair, an international sports betting and gaming operator, dropped 2.02 percent. Worldpay Group, a global payments processing technology and solutions company , fell 1.99 percent.
