British stocks decreased on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.14 percent, or 10.80 points, to close at 7,516.17 points.
Pearson, a multinational publishing and education company, soared 7.32 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. ConvaTec Group and International Consolidated Airlines Group increased by 3.90 percent and 2.67 percent respectively.
The major European entertainment company Merlin Entertainments was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 15.94 percent. The international private hospital group Mediclinic International dropped 4.37 percent, and Standard Life Aberdeen, a British asset management firm, fell 3.88 percent.
