British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.51 percent, or 37.60 points, to close at 7,312.72 points.
Mondi, an international packaging and paper group, soared 1.61 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Smurfit Kappa Group and Royal Mail increased by 1.53 percent and 1.47 percent respectively.
The British water company United Utilities Group was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.45 percent. British clothing and home products retailer, Next, dropped 3.02 percent and Royal Bank of Scotland Group fell 2.25 percent.
