British stocks decreased on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.59 percent, or 44.67 points, to close at 7498.06 points.
Fresnillo, a Mexican-based precious metals mining company, soared 4.89 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Randgold Resources and Worldpay Group increased by 2.79 percent and 1.28 percent, respectively.
G4S, a British multinational security services company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 7.47 percent. Standard Chartered, a British multinational banking and financial services company, dropped 2.60 percent. Prudential, an international financial services group, fell 2.33 percent.
