British stocks decreased on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 1.05 percent, or 79.33 points, to close at 7,447.21 points.
Kingfisher, an Europe's leading home improvement retailer, soared 2.72 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. NMC Health and Hargreaves Lansdown increased by 1.56 percent and 1.43 percent, respectively.
The British pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.52 percent. The Chilean mining group Antofagasta dropped 4.36 percent. Standard Chartered, a multinational banking group, fell 3.03 percent.
