British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 1.08 percent, or 79.98 points, to close at 7,309.96 points.
Smurfit Kappa Group, one of the leading paper-based packaging companies in the world, soared 1.74 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Persimmon and DCC increased by 1.58 percent and 1.03 percent, respectively.
Standard Life, an investment company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.75 percent. Rio Tinto, a leading global mining group, dropped 3.15 percent. Old Mutual, an international investment group, fell 3.08 percent.
