British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 1.10 percent, or 79.92 points, to close at 7,215.47 points.
Imperial Brands, a multinational tobacco company, soared 2.05 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. ITV and British American Tobacco increased by 1.14 percent and 1.03 percent, respectively.
The cruise company Carnival was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 6.22 percent.
Provident Financial, a British sub-prime lender, dropped 4.28 percent. Ferguson, a heating and plumbing products business, fell 3.28 percent.
