British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.09 percent, or 7.08 points, to close at 7,544.09 points.

Shire, a global specialty biopharmaceutical company, soared 3.79 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. easyJet and Carnival both increased by 2.83 percent.

Mediclinic International,an international private hospital group, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 4.77 percent. Fresnillo, a precious metals mining company, dropped 2.71 percent. Micro Focus International, a multinational software and information technology business, fell 1.74 percent.
