British stocks rose on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.26 percent, or 19.11 points, to close at 7,370.03 points.
Schroders, a British multinational asset management company, soared 2.15 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. BAE Systems and BHP Billiton increased by 2.02 percent and 1.69 percent, respectively.
The global specialty biopharmaceutical company Shire was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.19 percent. Next, a British clothing and home products retailer, dropped 1.94 percent. The British sub-prime lender Provident Financial fell 1.77 percent.
