British stocks rose on Monday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.27 percent, or 20.23 points, to close at 7,531.94 points.

Anglo American, a multinational mining company, soared 3.11 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Glencore and Rio Tinto increased by 2.59 percent and 2.57 percent, respectively.

The bookmaking business created by the merger of Paddy Power Betfair was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 4.67 percent. Pearson, a British multinational publishing and education company, dropped 3.81 percent. Mediclinic International, an international private hospital group, fell 2.45 percent.
