Canada's benchmark stock index continued up Wednesday as financial stocks were positive after the sector got a boost from Royal Bank of Canada's rise in third-quarter profit.
The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard&Poor's/TSX Composite Index rose 78.20 points, or 0.52 percent, to end the day at 15,063.16.
Six of its 10 main sectors were up. Advancers outnumbered decliners at 837 to 649 with 296 issues unchanged.
The Royal Bank of Canada's stock jumeped 1.1 percent to 93.01 Canadian dollars after the bank reported a rise in third-quarter profit, helped by double-digit growth at its wealth management business which offset a weaker showing in its capital markets unit.
The Canadian dollar edged little down 0.004 cents to U.S. 79.61 cents while crude oil rose 58 cents to 48.41 U.S. dollars per barrel.
