Canadian Stock Markets up Wednesday-July 19
 

Canada's main stock market rose Wednesday as oil price jumped to a six-week high to send energy stocks rallying across the board.

The Toronto Stock Exchange's benchmark Standard & Poor's/TSX Composite Index rose 95.14 points, or 0.63 percent, to close Wednesday at 15,244.71.

Eight out of the index's 10 main groups rose, with energy stocks surging almost three percent.

The Canadian dollar edged up 0.22 cents to 0.79.40 U.S dollar while o il prices took on 71 cents to 47.11 U.S dollar a barrel. But gold prices fell 90 cents to 1,241.00 U.S dollar an ounce.
