Chinese Shares Close Lower Friday-Nov 3
 

Chinese stocks closed lower Friday, weighed down by weak performances in coal mining and steel sectors.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index (SCI) fell 0.34 percent to close at 3,371.74 points, while the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.68 percent lower at 11,215.19 points.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.79 percent to close at 1,832.97 points.

Combined turnover on the two bourses slipped to 465 billion yuan (70.38 billion U.S. dollars), from 470 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Sectors including coal mining and steel dragged down the SCI, with Anhui Hengyuan Coal Industry and Electricity Power Co. and Baoshan Iron & Steel down 3.24 percent and 0.13 percent, respectively.

Most of the shares in liquor makers lost, while the Sichuan Tuopai Shede Wine Co. and Jiangsu King's Luck Brewery Joint-Stock Co. rose 3.58 percent and 2.3 percent, respectively.

Bucking the trend, the electronics manufacturing saw a gain.
