Chinese Shares Close Lower On Tuesday
 

Major Chinese stock indices dropped on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edging down 1.13 percent, closing at 3,292.07.

The smaller Shenzhen Component Index lost 0.81 percent lower to end at 10,807.53.

Combined turnover on the two bourses expanded to 461 billion yuan (73 billion U.S. dollars), expanding from 332.6 billion yuan the previous trading day.

The Shanghai SE 50 Index, which tracks actively traded industry leaders, posted a decline of 1.57 percent.

Shares in the coal mining and cement sectors led the losses, with China Shenhua Energy Company Limited down 5.11 percent.

Bucking the trend, shares in the media sector rose, with Beijing Enlight Media up 3.97 percent while Zhejiang Talent Television and Film Co., Ltd. hit the daily limit of 10 percent.

The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.83 percent to close at 1,743.54 points Tuesday.
