Chinese Shares Extend Gains Tuesday-Nov 7

Chinese shares rose across the board Tuesday, with large-cap financial and oil stocks leading the gain.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 0.75 percent to close at 3,413.57 points while the Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.83 percent higher at 11,467.97 points.

Combined turnover on the two bourses rose to 525.76 billion yuan (79.4 billion U.S. dollars) from 465 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Bluechip shares, especially those in the banking and oil industries, were among the biggest winners.

Ping An Bank saw its shares jump 5.67 percent while oil giant PetroChina gained 2.51 percent.

The SSE 50 Index, which tracks 50 stocks on the Shanghai Stock Exchange with large market capitalization and high liquidity, went up 1.06 percent.

Shares of port operators surged in afternoon trading on investor speculation that an integration plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will be released soon.

Zhuhai Port, for example, saw its shares jump almost by the daily limit of 10 percent before falling back to close 5.78 percent higher.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.47 percent to close at 1,859.07 points.
