Chinese stocks opened lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.15 percent, at 3,373.23 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.15 percent lower at 11,254.41 points. The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.32 percent to open at 1,876.69 points.
Lonmin was 2.83 percent higher to R15.24 and Impala Platinum gained 2.11 percent to R32.45. South Africa's Impala Platinum announced on Monday it would pay 30 million U.S. dollars for a 15 percent interest in a platinum project in the northern Waterberg region.
