French shares lost on Wednesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.11 percent, or 5.68 points, to close at 5,252.90 points.
A total of 25 of the 40 selected large companies lost in the day.
Commercial property investor Unibail-Rodamco tumbled 1.92 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French company producing ophthalmic lenses, Essilor Intl. was down 1.85 percent. French multinational luxury goods conglomerate, LVMH, lost 1.37 percent.
BNP PARIBAS, French banking giant, rose 2.68 percent, the top gainer of the day. Another French banking giant Societe Generale, gained 2.46 percent.
The Luxembourg-based multinational steel manufacturing corporation Arcelormittal was up 0.89 percent.
