French shares lost on Friday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 1.07 percent, or 55.56 points, to close at 5,131.39 points.
Thirty-five of the 40 selected large companies lost in the day.
French car manufacturer Renault tumbled 5.08 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French company producing ophthalmic lenses, Essilor Intl. was down 4.12 percent. French luxury goods holding company Kering edged down 3.82 percent.
Oil and gas firm Technipfmc rose 3.86 percent, the top gainer of the day. Saint-Gobain SA, a building and high-performance material company,gained 1.44 percent. French industrial group Legrand was up 0.16 percent.
