French shares fell on Friday with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 Index lost 1.06 percent to close at 5060.92 points.

In France, inflation in July was confirmed at -0.3 percent,inflation for the whole year is 0.7 percent.

In Europe, Innogy declined 1.80 percent to 36.22 euros in a depressed market after its publication of half-year results. The German energy distributor reported an adjusted net income up 15.81 percent to 857 million euros.

In France, Groupe ADP declined 1.22 percent to 142.00 euros in a depressed market. Air France lost 3.43 percent to 11,975 euros.

Eurotunnel Group lost 1.30 percent to 9.51 euros after announcing a 5 percent drop in passenger shuttle traffic in July over one year.

On the previous trading day, French shares lost 0.59 percent to close at 5115,23 points.
