French shares edged up on Friday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.08 percent, or 4.09 points, to close at 5,372.38 points.
20 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.
Steel giant ArcelorMittal advanced 1.86 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Credit Agricole, a French network of cooperative and mutual banks rose 1.68 percent. French banking giant Societe Generale gained 1.34 percent.
French multinational hotel group Accor went down by 3.29 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French multinational mass media conglomerate Vivendi lost 2.19 percent. French Oil and gas firm Technipfmc edged down 2.06 percent.
