French shares edged up on Tuesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.16 percent, or 8.12 points, to close at 5,237.44 points.
23 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.
French multinational information technology consulting corporation Cap Gemini advanced 1.54 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Oil and gas firm Technipfmc rose 1.51 percent and French multinational automobile manufacturer Peugeot was up 1.43 percent.
Steel giant ArcelorMittal went down by 1.76 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. Belgian chemical company Solvay lost 1.40 percent while French banking giant Societe Generale edged down 1.20 percent.
