French shares edged up on Wednesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.56 percent, or 29.09 points, to close at 5,190.17 points.
33 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.
French multinational automobile manufacturer Peugeot advanced 3.18 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. European multinational aerospace and defence corporation Airbus Group rose 2.78 percent, while the European IT services corporation Atos gained 2.75 percent.
Steel giant ArcelorMittal went down by 1.93 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. Building material manufacturer LafargeHolcim and French multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi lost 1.23 percent and 0.41 percent respectively.
