German stocks closed flat on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index down 0.24 points, or zero percent, to close at 12,014.06 points.
German global banking and financial service provider Deutsche Bank lost the most among the blue chips, down by 1.28 percent, followed by Commerzbank and multinational software corporation SAP, which lost 1.15 percent and 0.69 percent respectively.
Pharmaceutical company Merck, energy group E.ON and and European health care company Fresenius SE were the top three winners, rising 2.32 percent, 2.07 percent and 1.66 percent respectively.
Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 296.27 million euros (348.56 million U.S. dollars). (1 euro = 1.18 U.S. dollars)
