German stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 40.80 points, or 0.33 percent, to close at 12,305.11 points.
German banking and financial services provider Commerzbank won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.85 percent. Tire specialist Continental and automotive manufacturer Volkswagen rose by 1.76 percent and 1.68 percent respectively.
Pharmaceutical company Merck lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 3.49 percent. Automotive manufacturer Daimler and multinational chemical firm Linde went down by 1.44 percent and 0.98 percent respectively.
Daimler was the most-traded share with a turnover of 390.22 million euros (454.37 million U.S. dollars).
