German stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index up 82.09 points, or 0.67 percent, to close at 12,296.63 points.
Energy group RWE won the biggest gain among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.29 percent. German sportswear and equipment maker Adidas and industrial giant Thyssenkrupp rose 1.63 percent and 1.57 percent respectively.
German banking and financial services company Commerzbank lost the most among the blue chips, falling 2.52 percent. Deutsche Bank and European health care company Fresenius SE went down by 1.58 percent and 1.08 percent respectively.
Automotive manufacturer Daimler was the most-traded share with a turnover of 371.28 million euros (444.45 million U.S. dollars).
