German stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 189.56 points, or 1.52 percent, to close at 12,626.58 points.
Energy group E.ON won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.91 percent. German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies and pharmaceutical company Merck rose by 2.77 percent and 2.58 percent respectively.
Commerzbank lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 1.32 percent. Deutsche Bank and European mass media company ProSiebenSat.1 went down by 0.99 percent and 0.30 percent respectively.
German insurance and financial services company Allianz was the most-traded share with a turnover of 280.99 million euros (321.70 million U.S. dollars).
