German stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 194.16 points, or 1.57 percent, to close at 12,585.57 points.

German semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 2.87 percent. Multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer and renal dialysis equipment supplier Fresenius Medical rose by 2.74 percent and 2.71 percent respectively.

Pharmaceutical company Merck lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 0.22 percent. German airlines Lufthansa was down by 0.04 percent.

Bayer was the most-traded share with a turnover of 419.63 million euros (518.53 million U.S. dollars).
