German stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 235.94 points, or 1.78 percent, to close at 13,465.51 points.

German automotive manufacturer Volkswagen won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 4.61 percent. Semiconductor manufacturer Infineon Technologies and airlines Lufthansa rose by 3.57 percent and 3.12 percent respectively.

European mass media company ProSiebenSat.1 lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 3.01 percent.

Sportswear and equipment maker Adidas and European health care company Fresenius SE down by 2.03 percent and 1.67 percent respectively.

Volkswagen was the most-traded share with a turnover of 476.99 million euros (553.88 million U.S. dollars).
