German shares lost on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index down 8.90 points, or 0.07 percent, to close at 12,437.02 points.
Chemical and consumer goods company Henkel lost the most among the blue chips, down by 1.51 percent, followed by energy groups RWE and E.ON, which lost 1.38 percent and 1.14 percent respectively.
Automotive manufacturer BMW, tire specialist Continental and industrial giant Thyssenkrupp were the top three winners, rising 1.70 percent, 1.35 percent and 1.31 percent respectively.
Automotive manufacturer Daimler was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 240.64 million euros (274.44 million U.S. dollars).
