German shares lost on Monday, with the benchmark DAX index down 40.55 points, or 0.33 percent, to close at 12,257.17 points.
European health care company Fresenius SE lost the most among the blue chips, down by 2.14 percent, followed by renal dialysis equipment supplier Fresenius Medical and Deutsche Boerse group, marketplace organizer for the trading of shares and securities, which lost 1.41 percent and 1.18 percent respectively.
German telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom, airlines Lufthansa and industrial giant Thyssenkrupp were the top three winners, rising 1.39 percent, 1.27 percent and 1.23 percent respectively.
Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most traded share of the day with a turnover of 214.71 million euros (253.29 million U.S. dollars).
