German shares lost on Monday, with the benchmark DAX index down 40.43 points, or 0.33 percent, to close at 12,102.21 points.
German industrial giant Thyssenkrupp lost the most among the blue chips, down by 1.57 percent, followed by energy group RWE and airlines Lufthansa, which lost 1.52 percent and 1.18 percent respectively.
Tire specialist Continental, European mass media company ProSiebenSat.1 and automotive manufacturer BMW were the top three winners, rising 0.72 percent, 0.65 percent and 0.41 percent respectively.
Manufacturing and electronics company Siemens was the most traded share of the day, with a turnover of 137.60 million euros (163.81 million U.S. dollars).
