Indian markets opened higher Wednesday. Equity benchmarks started off Wednesday's trade with record highs, backed by banks, metals and telecom stocks.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex opened at 33,422.41, 209.28 points or 0.7 percent up compared with its previous close at 33,213.13.
