Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) closed Friday on a positive note as turnover rose 28 percent and the benchmark index surged by 34 points.
Equity turnover at the bourse stood at 11 million U.S. dollars after rising from 8 million dollars in the previous session.
On the other hand, the NSE 20 Share Index was up 33.89 points to close at 3,798.63 points, a new high, as prices of key stocks surged while the NSE All share Index (NASI) was up 2.78 points to close at 161.18 points.
Equity Bank, East African Breweries Ltd, Safaricom, Kenol and NIC bank accounted for 83 percent of Friday's total turnover.
Foreign investors participation stood at 55 percent while local 45, with the former raising their stakes Friday after keeping off Thursday.
The foreigners were mainly net sellers as they traded Safaricom, Britam, KenGen and Mumias Sugar. At the bond market, turnover rose to 12 million dollars from 11 million dollars in the previous session.
