Kenya's Bourse Turnover Flat Amid Rise in Share Trading
 

Equity turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) was largely flat on Friday even as the number of shares traded rose 44 percent.

Turnover stood at 7.6 million U.S. dollars on a volume of 34 million shares from 22 million shares worth 7.5 million in the previous trading.

Regional oil marketer KenolKobil was the day's top mover, transacting 13.4 million shares at 0.14 dollars, a marginal rise, with the stock mainly traded by local investors.

Kenya's leading telecom Safaricom was the second best traded stock, moving 9.9 million shares at 0.22 dollars.

Equity Bank came third with 3.3 million shares at unchanged price of 0.37 dollars while Kenya Commercial Bank was fourth with 1.6 million shares at 0.37 dollars after going up marginally. Cooperative Bank was the fifth best traded stock with 1.3 million shares moved at 0.15 dollars.

Foreign investors' participation during the session stood at 69 percent, a slight decline from 72 percent in the previous session, with the foreigners cutting buys.

The NSE 20 Share Index rose 5 points to stand at 3,607.18 while the NSE All share Index (NASI) was down to 152.92 points from 153.22 points.

Bond turnover at the secondary market rose marginally to 28 million dollars from 25 million dollars in the previous session.
