Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) downward spiral continued Wednesday, with both equity turnover and the benchmark 20 Share Index going down.
Turnover stood at 2 million U.S. dollars on a volume of 12 million shares from 29 million shares worth 5.9 million in the previous trading, a decline of 65 percent.
The NSE 20 Share Index declined 7.10 points to stand at 3,609.21 while the NSE All share Index (NASI) was down 1.24 points to close at 154.32 points.
Foreign investors' participation during the session dropped to 40 percent from over 60 percent in the previous session, with the foreigners cutting both buys and sales.
Safaricom, Kenya's leading telecom was the day's top trader, transacting 3.3 million shares at 0.23 dollars, a marginal rise.
Insurance firm Britam was the second top mover with 2.2 million shares at 0.12 dollars, a slight increase of 1.6 percent while CIC insurance was third with 1.2 million shares after going up marginally.
Housing Finance Corporation came forth with 1 million shares traded at 0.10 dollars while Mumias Sugar clocked the fifth position with 861,900 shares.
Bond turnover at the secondary market went down marginally to 39 million dollars from 40 million dollars in the previous session.
