The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the participating Non-OPEC oil-producing countries are more allegiant to their commitment to the voluntary production adjustment than never before, an OPEC report showed Friday.
The OPEC consent index soared to a level of 116 percent, the highest ever, according to the Report of the Joint OPEC-Non-OPEC Technical Committee (JTC) for August.
"In August 2017, the OPEC and participating non-OPEC producing countries achieved an excellent conformity level of 116 percent, the highest level since the start of the Declaration of Cooperation," said the report.
The index was released by the Joint OPEC-Non-OPEC Ministerial Monitoring Committee (JMMC).
The JMMC was established following OPEC's 171st Ministerial Conference Decision of Nov. 30, 2016. Some 14 OPEC member countries and 10 non-OPEC oil producing countries made commitments to voluntary adjustments in total production of around 1.8 million barrels per day since then, in a bid to prevent evil cycling competition and fluctuation of the oil prices all around the world.
The second joint OPEC-Non-OPEC Producing Countries' Ministerial Meeting in May this year announced to extend the voluntary production adjustments for another nine months commencing July 1, 2017, following its first six-month reduction deal declared on Jan. 1, 2017.
Iraq, Libya and Nigeria reportedly reaffirmed of their commitment to the JMMC internal deal, at its 5th meeting in Vienna Friday.
