Shares prices on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) closed firmer on Monday as the South Africa's rand firms.
The all share index was 0.55 percent up at 52,187.92 points, with the top 40 index 0.67 percent up at 45,976.56 points, the industrial index was 0.46 percent higher.
Diversified miners dropped following low commodity prices, with platinum now selling at 901.41 U.S. dollars an ounce. But gold price was higher at 1,213.4 dollars an ounce, after dropping 2.3 percent over the past week.
The South African rand traded back to R13.45 to the dollar, after weakening through R13.5.
Among individual stocks on the JSE, Naspers was up 1.73 percent to R2,517.5 while British American Tobacco declined 0.48 percent to R900.68.
Anglo American rose 1.6 percent to R184.33, Anglo American Platinum was up 2.28 percent to R299.03 and Kumba Iron Ore gained 1.07 percent to R174.5.
Telkom was up 1.27 percent to R63.63 while construction and engineering group Murray & Roberts was up 2.37 percent to R13.8.
