Spanish shares lost on Tuesday, with the benchmark Ibex-35 down 0.62 percent, or 63.4 points, to close at 10,179.80 points.

A total of 20 of the selected 35 large companies, lost in the day.

Spain's fifth largest bank Bankia was down 3.03 percent, followed by Spain's third largest bank Caixabank and Spain's fourth largest bank Banc Sabadell that lost 2.55 percent and 2.31 percent respectively.

Renewable energy company Siemens Gamesa gained 4.06 percent, being the top gainer of the day. Electricity company Endesa rose 2.75 percent and Spain's energy company Repsol was up 1.83 percent.
