Spanish shares lost on Friday, with the benchmark Ibex-35 down 0.82 percent, or 86.6 points, to close at 10,444.50 points.

Of the 35 selected large companies, 23 lost in the day.

Spain's largest bank Banco Santander was down 1.98 percent, followed by gas and electricity company Endesa and Spain's third largest bank Caixabank that lost 1.92 percent and 1.90 percent respectively.

Spain's hotel chain Melia Hotels gained 1.32 percent being the top gainer of the day.

Wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa gained 1.25 percent and steel manufacturing corporation ArcelorMittal was up 1.17 percent.
