The Spanish treasury placed treasury bills on the market on Tuesday with a value of 4.5 billion euros (5.1 billion U.S. dollars), meeting the goal of placing between 4 and 5 billion euros on the market.
A total of 3.72 billion euros worth of 12-month treasury bills carried an average interest rate of -0.37 percent, while the remaining 825 million euros worth of six-month treasury bills fetched an average interest rate of -0.41 percent.
The Spanish treasury will hold a three and nine-month treasury bill auction next week and a bond auction on July 20. (1 euro = 1.14 U.S. dollars)
