Tokyo Stocks Extend Gains On Wall Street's Lead, Hopes For BOJ Status Quo

Tokyo stocks extended gains Tuesday morning following a solid lead from Wall Street overnight, while Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda reportedly serving another term eased fears about the bank's monetary policy.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 285.43 points, or 1.33 percent, from Friday to 21,668.05.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 13.80 points, or 0.80 percent, to 1,745.77.

Textiles and apparels, securities and precision instrument-linked instruments comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
