Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday tracking a solid lead from Wall Street late last week.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 93.01 points, or 0.44 percent, from Friday to 21,248.19.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 9.06 points, or 0.53 percent, to 1,717.68.
Insurance, mining, and oil and coal product-related issues comprised those that advanced the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
