Tokyo Stocks Open Higher Amid U.S. Shares Advance on Solid Economic Data-Nov 6

Tokyo stocks opened higher on Monday with investors taking their cues from U.S. shares advancing toward the end of last week following solid economic data and on optimism for tax reforms and a potential rate hike next month from the U.S. Federal Reserve.

As of 9:15 a.m, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 72.92 points, or 0.32 percent, from Thursday to 22,612.04.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 2.53 points, or 0.14 percent, to 1,796.61.

Mining, marine transportation and air transportation-linked stocks comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.

Markets here were closed on Friday for a national holiday.
