Tokyo Stocks Open Higher as Solid U.S. Jobs Data Sets Positive Tone-July 10
 

Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday as Wall Street's advance at the end of last week after solid U.S. jobs data for June set a positive tone for the market here on the first trading day of the week.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 114.45 points, or 0.57 percent, from Friday to 20,043.54.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 6.72 points, or 0.42 percent, to 1,613.78.

Marine transportation, air transportation and precision instrument-related stocks comprised those that gained the most in early trade.
