Tokyo Stocks Open Higher on Wall Street's Solid Tone-Sep 7

Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday with investor sentiment buoyed by a solid showing on Wall Street overnight as concerns eased about the debt ceiling in the United States.

As of 9:15 a.m, the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 102.33 points, or 0.53 percent, from Wednesday to 19,460.30.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 10.03 points, or 0.63 percent, to 1,602.03.

Construction, rubber product, and pulp and paper-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in early trade.
