Tokyo Stocks Open Lower Tracking Losses of U.S. High-tech Shares-July 28
 

Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower on Friday following a weak tone set by the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite Index overnight.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 45.58 points, or 0.23 percent, from Thursday to 20,034.06.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 2.04 points, or 0.13 percent, at 1,624.80.

Pulp and paper, securities, and air transportation-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in early trade.
